Project your child's PSEA balance at 2.5% with the new S$10,000 top-up at 17, government matching and Edusave transfers, then see how many years of university fees it pays.
2.5% a year. MOE pegs it to the CPF Ordinary Account rate. The extra 1% that CPF pays on the first S$20,000 does not apply to PSEA.
Every Singapore Citizen child born in 2009 or later, under the SG Child Support Package announced at the 2026 National Day Rally. Children turning 17 in 2026 or 2027 receive it in June 2027. After that, it comes in June of the year the child turns 17.
For children born from 1 January 2015, the CDA now stays open until the end of the year they turn 16, and what is left moves to PSEA after that. Co-matching caps become S$5,000 for every child from 1 October 2027. LifeSG says the CDA balance moves over up to a PSEA cap that has not been published yet.
It opens when money first moves in. That is when the CDA balance transfers, when the Edusave balance transfers in the year your child turns 17, or when the government pays a top-up.
Only before your child's 18th birthday, and only if the contribution cap has not been reached. Each dollar you put in up to the cap is matched by the government. You can check the cap and pay by PayNow on the Student Finance System.
Fees for approved programmes at approved institutions, for your child or their siblings, and repayment of government education loans such as HESL. It cannot pay for junior college or Millennia Institute.
PSEA only pays approved institutions on MOE's list. Check the list on the Student Finance System before you count PSEA towards a degree abroad.
The account closes around the middle of the year your child turns 31. They can keep it open one more year, transfer it to a sibling's PSEA or donate it. Otherwise the money moves to their CPF Ordinary Account, and the move cannot be undone.
Yes, if you enter it. Edusave moves to PSEA in the year your child turns 17 or leaves an MOE-funded school, whichever is later. Enter the amount you expect in the box for money moving in at 17.
