Planning tips

  • The banquet is usually 40 to 60% of a Singapore wedding budget. Hotel tables run about $2,200 to $3,500+ and restaurants about $500 to $2,100, before the standard +10% service charge and 9% GST.
  • Ang bao collection often covers most of the banquet, so the net out-of-pocket figure is the one to plan around. Weekend and premium-hotel dinners attract higher ang bao (often $280 to $450 per guest).
  • Typical totals: an intimate or ROM-only wedding around $8,000 to $25,000, a mid-range banquet wedding $30,000 to $55,000, and a lavish one $85,000+.
  • Don't forget customary costs (guo da li, tea ceremony gold, pin jin) and helper ang bao for your jiemei and xiongdi.
  • All figures are editable estimates, not quotes. Get vendor quotes for your actual costs.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a wedding cost in Singapore?

It varies widely. An intimate or ROM-only wedding can be $8,000 to $25,000, a mid-range banquet wedding is typically $30,000 to $55,000, and a lavish one can exceed $85,000. The banquet is usually the biggest item at 40 to 60% of the budget.

What is the net cost of a wedding after ang bao?

Ang bao collected from guests often covers most of the banquet cost, so your real out-of-pocket is much lower than the total. This calculator subtracts estimated ang bao from your total to show the net figure, which is the number to actually plan around.

How much ang bao should guests give in Singapore?

It depends on the venue and meal. Restaurant weddings are often $50 to $120 per guest, hotel weekday dinners $150 to $300, and weekend or premium-hotel dinners $280 to $450. Couples typically give for two pax.

How many banquet tables do I need?

Banquet tables seat about 10 guests each, so divide your guest count by 10 and round up. The calculator does this and applies the usual 10% service charge and 9% GST to the per-table price.

What costs do couples often forget?

Service charge and GST on the banquet, customary costs (guo da li, tea ceremony gold, pin jin), ang bao for your jiemei and xiongdi helpers, the wedding car, invitations, and the honeymoon. They are all included as editable line items here.

What does '++' or 'nett' mean on a banquet quote?

'++' means the price excludes the 10% service charge and 9% GST, so a S$1,388++ table actually costs about S$1,664. 'Nett' means those are already included. Always confirm which one a venue quotes. The calculator applies the 10% + 9% so you compare true cost.

Is a weekday or lunch wedding cheaper?

Yes, often noticeably. Weekday and Sunday slots, and lunch banquets, are usually priced lower than Saturday dinners, and off-peak months can carry promotions. The trade-off is guest convenience and ang bao norms, which tend to be a little lower for lunches.
