Large Family LifeSG credits were announced at Budget 2025 and first paid from 10 September 2025. Married, widowed or divorced parents with three or more Singapore Citizen children got S$1,000 in their LifeSG app. That was for each third or later child aged one to six. A second round went out in April 2026. LifeSG now says the credits will cease, with no payouts in 2027, because the SG Child Support Package replaces the Large Families Scheme from April 2027. Here's when each payment landed, who got it, and what you get in its place.
The credits were for married or ever-married parents raising three or more living Singapore Citizen children. That includes widowed and divorced parents. The children could be theirs by birth, adoption or step-relations.
Under the scheme's original design, each third or later child counted for S$1,000 a year, from the year they turned one to the year they turned six. That six-year run has been cut short. LifeSG says the credits will cease, with no payouts in 2027, and Child Credits under the SG Child Support Package take over from April 2027.
Your child also had to be enrolled in the Baby Bonus Scheme. You didn't apply for the credits. MSF checked who qualified and paid the child's CDA trustee, the parent who manages the child's Child Development Account. Our guide to Baby Bonus payouts and the CDA covers how enrolment works.
Who counted depended on your family:
Alongside the LifeSG credits, the Large Families Scheme pays two grants for each third or later Singapore Citizen child born on or after 18 February 2025. Say your third child was born in March 2025. Here's what the scheme added:
The First Step Grant stays in the CDA. It can pay preschool and healthcare costs for the child and their brothers and sisters. Our guide to CDA matching caps and timing explains how the rest of the account fills up.
The MediSave grant can pay medical costs for the mother and her family. LifeSG lists MediShield Life premiums, recommended childhood vaccinations, hospital stays and approved outpatient treatment.
You get the full amount of both grants if at least one parent was a Singapore Citizen when the child was born. If neither parent was, and the child becomes a citizen later, the grants are scaled down.
The first round went to each third or later Singapore Citizen child born from 1 January 2019 to 31 December 2024. Those are the children aged one to six in 2025. MSF paid the CDA trustee in its records as at 1 August 2025.
Each trustee got an SMS once the credits reached their LifeSG wallet. To guard against scams, MSF said these messages come only from "gov.sg" and only tell you the payment status. They never ask you to reply, tap a link or send your details.
The second round was paid from 28 April 2026. It covered third and later children born from 2020 to 2025, the ones aged one to six in 2026. So a child born in 2025 got their first credits here, and a child born in 2019 wasn't in this round.
This time MSF used its records as at 1 March 2026. Each round of credits is valid for 12 months, so it's worth checking your LifeSG wallet for what's left of the April 2026 credits.
The credits sit in the LifeSG app's digital wallet. You spend them at any shop or online merchant that takes PayNow UEN QR or NETS QR, and shops that do usually show the code at the counter. MSF says they can go on groceries, pharmacy items, utilities and transport.
If you haven't used the wallet before, our guide to the LifeSG app and how to spend LifeSG credits walks through it.
Families for Life also lists Large Families Deals from more than 50 companies and community groups at go.gov.sg/lfs-deals.
No. LifeSG says Large Family LifeSG credits will cease, with no payouts in 2027. The bigger CDA First Step Grant for large families also stops from April 2027.
Both make way for the SG Child Support Package, which Prime Minister Lawrence Wong announced at the National Day Rally on 23 August 2026. It replaces the Baby Bonus Scheme and the Large Families Scheme. Every Singapore Citizen child gets the same support under it, whatever their birth order.
In place of the LifeSG credits, the package pays S$2,000 a year in cash, called Child Credits. Every Singapore Citizen child turning one to 16 from 2026 onwards gets them. The first payout is from April 2027. After that, it's paid on your child's birthday.
The First Step Grant for a child born from 1 January 2015 to 31 March 2027 follows the current Baby Bonus Scheme and Large Families Scheme amounts. For a child born on or after 1 April 2027, it's S$5,000 whatever the birth order. Our guide to your child's CDA, Edusave and PSEA accounts covers what else the package changes.
Child Credits don't go into the LifeSG app. They're paid to the bank account linked to your child's PayNow ID, which is their NRIC or birth certificate number. LifeSG asks you to set that up before 1 April 2027, so the payouts reach you on time.
The account has to be in your child's name, or a joint account with a parent. LifeSG says not to link your child's PayNow ID to their CDA, because CDA money can't be taken out as cash.
If your child is already in the Baby Bonus Scheme, you don't need to enrol again. Your child moves to the SG Child Support Package automatically from April 2027.
Made For Families says families with three or more children will keep getting extra help on top of the package. The Government is studying how to reposition the S$5,000 Large Family MediSave Grant and extend it to existing large families that haven't had it.
The Ministry of Transport will add help with transport costs, and the Ministry of National Development is studying more housing support for large families. LifeSG says more details will come at a later date.
Here's the whole schedule, from the grants at birth to the switch to Child Credits.

No. Once your child was enrolled in the Baby Bonus Scheme, MSF checked whether your family qualified. It paid the credits to the child's CDA trustee in the LifeSG app, and the trustee got an SMS from gov.sg when they arrived. LifeSG says there will be no payouts in 2027.
LifeSG says there will be no Large Family LifeSG credits in 2027, which is the year a 2026 baby turns one. Under the SG Child Support Package, every Singapore Citizen child turning one to 16 from 2026 onwards gets S$2,000 a year in Child Credits. The first payout is from April 2027.
No. Large Family LifeSG credits were S$1,000 in the LifeSG app for each third or later child aged one to six, spent at QR merchants and paid in September 2025 and April 2026. Child Credits are S$2,000 a year in cash for every Singapore Citizen child turning one to 16 from 2026. They're paid from April 2027 into the bank account linked to the child's PayNow ID.
The S$5,000 grant still goes into the mother's MediSave for each third or later child born on or after 18 February 2025, if she's alive, the child's birth or adoptive mother, and a Singapore Citizen or permanent resident. If she isn't, the child gets it instead. Made For Families says the Government is studying how to reposition the grant and extend it to existing large families that haven't received it.
