Split an Integrated Shield Plan premium into what MediSave pays and what you pay in cash: MediShield Life in full, the private part up to the Additional Withdrawal Limit, and riders in cash.
All of the MediShield Life part, plus up to the Additional Withdrawal Limit for the private insurance part: S$300 a year if you are 40 or younger next birthday, S$600 from 41 to 70 and S$900 from 71.
The yearly cap on how much MediSave can pay towards the private insurance part of an IP premium. It depends on your age next birthday. Anything above it is paid in cash.
No. Rider premiums must be paid fully in cash.
From 1 April 2026, new riders cannot cover the minimum IP deductible, and the yearly co-payment cap is at least S$6,000 instead of at least S$3,000. The 5% minimum co-payment is unchanged.
Riders bought from 27 November 2025 to 31 March 2026 must switch to the new rules by their first renewal after 1 April 2028. For riders bought before 27 November 2025, each insurer decides.
MOH sets them by ward class: S$3,500 for Class A or private hospitals, S$2,500 for B1, S$2,000 for B2 and S$1,500 for C.
Both parts are priced by age band. The MediShield Life premium rises with age next birthday, and insurers' private parts usually do too. The AWL rises at 41 and 71.
They reduce the MediShield Life part, which MediSave pays. The calculator uses the premium before subsidies; the MediShield Life calculator works out your subsidies.
