Your YA 2026 NSman relief: S$1,500 to S$5,000 for NSmen by NS activity and key appointment, S$750 for wives and parents, and the tax it saves.
S$1,500 if you did no NS activities in the work year and S$3,000 if you did. Key command and staff appointment holders get S$3,500 and S$5,000. Wives and parents of NSmen get S$750.
The work year from 1 April to 31 March. For YA 2026 that is 1 Apr 2025 to 31 Mar 2026, not the 2025 calendar year. In-camp training in early 2026 still counts.
No. IRAS grants it from records sent by MINDEF, SPF and SCDF. Activities from January to March may reach IRAS after you file, and a revised bill follows.
No. A mother whose husband and son are both NSmen gets S$750 once. A father who is an NSman with an NSman son gets self or parent relief, whichever is higher.
No. Parent relief is S$750 per parent no matter how many children are NSmen. Each parent must be a Singapore Citizen in the year before.
Yes. The widow of an NSman can keep the relief unless she remarries. Parents of a deceased NSman can also get parent relief.
Regulars of MINDEF, SPF, SCDF, CNB and SPS, and NSmen who committed a disciplinary or criminal offence in the work year. You must also have completed full-time NS.
MINDEF found a system error in NS activity records. On 3 Sep 2026 it and IRAS said about 15,000 people had the wrong NSman relief for YA 2025 and YA 2026. IRAS sent revised notices; most changes are under S$200.
