Work out your household's carbon emissions from electricity, town gas and driving with EMA's and NEA's official factors, against the average home of your type, priced at the S$45 carbon tax.
0.402 kg of CO2 per kWh of electricity in 2024, down from 0.412 in 2023, according to EMA's Singapore Energy Statistics. It is the average across all power plants serving the grid.
It depends on the home. In 2024 an average 4-room HDB flat used 380.7 kWh a month, about 153 kg of CO2. A 3-room flat used 276.1 kWh, about 111 kg, and a landed home 1,208.2 kWh, about 486 kg.
S$45 per tonne of CO2-equivalent from 1 Jan 2026, for 2026 and 2027, with a view to S$50 to S$80 by 2030. It is levied on facilities that directly emit at least 25,000 tonnes a year, such as power plants, and reaches households through prices like electricity tariffs.
NCCS estimates the rise to S$45 a tonne adds about S$3 a month to the utility bills of an average 4-room HDB flat, holding other tariff components constant.
No Singapore agency publishes an emission factor per cubic metre of tap water or per passenger-km for MRT and buses, and this calculator uses official factors only. LTA says rail emits nearly 90% less carbon than petrol and diesel cars.
Enter the kilometres you drive a month and your model's CO2 per km, as listed under LTA's Vehicular Emissions Scheme. For an electric car charged away from home, enter the kWh you charge; charging at home is already on your electricity bill.
NEA's factor for town gas is 55.73 kg of CO2 per GJ, about 0.2 kg per kWh of gas on your bill. An average 4-room flat used 62.6 kWh of town gas a month in 2024, about 13 kg of CO2.
